Yeah Motherhood!

 

When I think if adventurous, our family doesn't instantly come to mind. When I think of adventures, I think of families globe trotting around the world parasailing and zip-lining which I refuse to do both because of my overwhelming fear of heights or more of my fear of unusually dying because I seem to be accident prone. Any given day I admit to tripping or dropping something.

I recently was given the opportunity to review my very dear friend (actually my sorority big sister) - Amy Misakonis's first children's book - THE BEST PLACE FOR ME.  I must say, I am so proud of Amy - this is one of the best books I have read to my children!  It makes you reflect as a parent on your life prior to kids - but when it boils down to it - we all know we wouldn't change our Mommy life for the world!

I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest and it inspired me to try my own take on it! My kids love it and it was so easy and fun to make! 

Supplies:  
Hair gel (cheap stuff from the a dollar store)
Glitter
Duct tape
Cardboard
Clear plastic bag


Step 1: Measure approximately 5-6 ounces of hair gel and mix in as much glitter as you want!


Step 2: Pour mixture into a clear food storage bag and get as much air out as possible and seal bag.

The Cowboy, the Bee, & Bubba By Charles Vienn II Yee-haa, kids, gallop right over to read this rootin' tootin' tale of Charlie Victory, the Cool Cowboy. This is a fun and energetic story that is filled with life lessons to help Charlie Victory, a cowboy teach Lill Bubba & AG respect, honesty, courage, kindness, loyalty, friendship, and much more. Baby Isaac will take you on a journey that will show how this unlikely trio finds ways to work together and solve everyday problems that many children face everyday. This story will teach children that although they have differences, it is important to work through differences to come up with a helpful solutions to their problems. As the summer sun approaches, fans will be coming from near and far to party like a rock star at the 15th Annual Rock the Dock summer-long concert series at the Kemah Boardwalk.  Music aficionados can shake, rattle and roll to the beats of the best local and regional bands starting in May, continuing each Thursday evening through August.  The free concerts will feature a wide variety of rock ‘n’ roll tunes and are held al fresco on the Event Plaza from 6:30 – 10:15 pm each week.

Friday, May 24 - Mommy and Me Class at Armand Bayou Nature Center

Armand Bayou Nature Center's newest educational programs, Mommy and Me classes, provide a fun introduction to animals, plants, and other nature topics.  Classes use literature, music, movement, storytelling, art, live animal demonstrations, games, and use of the five senses to make nature come alive. The Mommy and Me program is underwritten by the John P. McGovern Foundation

Wednesday, May 29 through Wednesday, July 3 - Autism Social Skills Class

Social Skills don't come natural to all children and Social Motion offers children a chance to learn and practice those skills.

When: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Who: Classes are designed for children with ADHD/ADD, High-Functioning Autism, as well as children with no formal diagnosis but may be a bit shy or struggling socially.
How: The 6-week program begins on April 10th and focuses on teaching "social doing".
Cost: Classes cost $40 a week and are led by a Certified Teacher with a background in Special Education as well as a Teachers Assistant. Classes consist of 4-8 students
